Bluegrass Bellydance offers Middle Eastern, Danse Oriental, Raqs Sharqi or "bellydance" instruction in the Owensboro, KY area. Middle Eastern Dance or "bellydance" comes from social dances done in the countries of the Middle East, including the Levant and North Africa. While todays modern dances are presented on stage as theatrical performance pieces the influences are clear. These dances have grown popular in recent years because they are accessible to people of all ages and physical abilities. In its native countries, everyone from 1 to 100 takes part in these dances at wedding, parties and other community gathering.
